2023 Event RESULTS

The Iowa High School Bass Team Championship at MacBride presented by SCHEELS this past Saturday.  It was the 5th Annual Event, held the day before Mother's Day.  This year we had 49 boats fishing at the open event, a new record!  A hug thanks to the captains, and your Tournament Director Todd Reed for keeping this great event rolling.  Another HUGE thanks to the sponsors that helped to put OVER $3,000 of fishing gear and gift cards into the kids' hands at this event.  "The more kids that are fishing, the better!"

17 Schools participated in 2023, another record as the youth bass movement keeps the momentum going: Independence, Cedar Falls, CR Prairie, Solon, Fairfield, Hudson, Mount Pleasant, ADM, Ed-Co, West Delaware, New Hampton, Gilbert, Northeast HS, Johnston, North Linn, MFL-Mar-Mac and Wilton.  

PRIZES: Prizes were given out to the Big Bass, the top 3 Schools(12 students) and the top 18 individual boats.  Overall giveaways topped the $3,000 mark!

Here is a summary along with all the stats from this event:

Big Bass was a largemouth that weighed 4.51# by Kael Moore of Cedar Falls.

154 bass were weighed in and released back into MacBride.

Almost 250 pounds of bass weighed in, mostly Largemouth Bass, some Spotted Bass and 2 Smallmouth Bass.

Over $3,000 in fishing gear and gift cards were given to students thanks to SCHEELS in Cedar Falls, Quantum Rods/Reels, The Rod Glove and X-Zone Lures.  

Every angler received a prize just for fishing.
